When it comes to David Guetta, a lot of electronic dance music fans have mixed feelings. Some say ‘he’s now a pop artist’ while other’s state ‘he’s got the golden touch’. What can be said though is his latest release has one hell of a great remix package.
Featuring Swedish newcomers ‘Taped Rai’, Guetta’s latest track ‘Just One Last Time’ is well produced but leaves a lot of room for others to come in and add that extra oomph. Cue Russian Electro House trio Hard Rock Sofa.
There’s a lot of pressure on Alexander Shapovalov and Denis Chepikov, the pair that make up Hard Rock Sofa, as the other remix chosen by Guetta is by the great Tiesto. Yet, it’s safe to say they rose to the challenge – reaching Number 1 on the Beatport chart.
Starting as they mean to go on with an energetic beat, keeping in line with the progressive house feel, the pair time the break perfectly adding considerable contrast as it enters another level. The DJs keep to their roots with their high-octane style, something that’s prevalent in their own releases such as Axtone and Fly Eye.
The ‘Big Room Mix’ is exactly what it says on the tin. Hearing the track off my laptop didn’t do it any justice, as the true potential of this remix can only be heard (and felt) in a club with loud speakers, an electro-house hungry crowd and some complimentary lights.
